After the disappointment of his early exit at Wimbledon,
Stefanos Tsitsipas is back in action and back to winning ways at the
Hamburg European Open.
Tsitsipas downed Dominik Koepfer 7-6, 6-3 to claim his 40th win of 2021 as he gets in more preparation ahead of the Tokyo Olympics and forthcoming US hard court swing.
Next up will be Filip Krajinovic in the Quarter-Finals who downed Philipp Kohlschreiber 7-6, 6-4.
It wasn't easy to start for the Greek who saw Koepfer save four set points at 5-6 but he couldn't win a service point in the tiebreak. Tsitsipas wasn't close to his best but still claimed the opener.
It was a lot more of a simpler equation from there as he claimed it 6-3 ending on 93% first serve but he will not be happy with 3/14 on break points, something he will look to arrest next time out.
