Alexander Zverev had to get umpire Fergus Murphy to intervene after he was heckled repeatedly by a fan in the crowd at the Munich Open with his previous domestic abuse allegations brought up.
Zverev had this previously at the Australian Open when the accusers names were shouted out during his match. This time when there was silence someone shouted out in German loosely translated to English: "Get out you f****** woman beater."
They continued to shout it when Zverev was sat on the bench between changeovers and he had to ask the umpire to throw him out. Zverev saw off Tallon Griekspoor 6-7 (2), 7-6(4), 6-4 and will face off against Fabian Marozsan tomorrow for a spot in the final.
Ben Shelton is already through having also won earlier today and could meet Zverev in the final. The World No.3 settled the case around this time last year with Brenda Patea, the mother of his child and ex-girlfriend.
He was also accused by his ex-girlfriend Olya Sharypova. But the ATP investigation found there was 'insufficient evidence' to substantiate claims made by Sharypova and so Zverev did not face disciplinary action. The ATP decision at the time said it could be 're-evaluated should new evidence come to light'.
For Zverev it is not something he would want given he is playing at home. But he did move through in the end to the semi-finals.
