The media ignored Spain’s
Carlos Alcaraz hilariously after
beating the former world number one
Rafael Nadal following their recent contest
in the
Six Kings Slam. The two faced each other in the semifinal of an
exhibition contest in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where the young Spaniard came out
on top in straight sets with a score of 6-3, 6-3.
In a video that was released on the social media platform X—previously
known as Twitter — Alcaraz can be seen as being ignored by the media, which was
far more interested in speaking to Nadal. The 38-year-old is regarded as one of
the greatest players in the history of men’s tennis in the singles category,
having won as many as 22 Grand Slam titles.
Nadal, who is also known as the ‘King of Clay’ after winning
14 French Open titles in his illustrious career, has struggled with fitness
concerns in the latter stages of his career and has already announced
that he will retire from professional tennis at the end of the upcoming Davis
Cup. The legendary tennis star missed six out of the last eight Grand
Slams because of fitness problems. On the other hand, Alcaraz is already
regarded as one of the best players currently playing men’s tennis in the
singles category, along with Italy’s
Jannik Sinner.
The 21-year-old is having a fabulous 2024 season, where he
has won two Grand Slam titles. He first lifted the French Open after beating
Germany’s Alexander Zverev in the final in a five-set thriller with a score of 6–3,
2–6, 5–7, 6–1, 6–2. He then went on to win the Wimbledon title after beating
Djokovic in the final in straight sets with a score of 6-2, 6-2, 7-6. Alcaraz’s
most recent title was the China Open where he defeated Sinner in the final with
a score of 6-7, 6-4, 7-6.
