Daria Kasatkina has revealed that her close friend Daria Saville is ‘excited’ about her new nationality. The 27-year-old recently announced that she has changed nationality from Russian to Australian after her permanent residency application was approved.

Kasatkina was recently quoted in a report by The Age, in which she stated that her close friend Saville, who also changed her nationality from Russia to Australia in the past, is ‘super happy’ and ‘excited’ for her. She stated that the 31-year-old keeps sending her stuff about ‘apartments’ and ‘homes’ around the area.

“‘Dash’ [Saville] is talking non-stop [[since I announced my decision],” Kasatkina said. “On the phone, she called me, then she keeps sending me some stuff, like the apartments and the houses around her location. She’s so excited; I’m scared. She is super happy for me.”

Kasatkina was recently featured in the Charleston Open, where her journey ended in the second round as she lost to the former world number four, America’s Sofia Kenin, in straight sets with a score of 6-3, 7-6. After securing a win in the first round, Kasatkina spoke about her feelings after playing as an Australian player for the first time in her career.

“A new stage for me,” she said after beating America’s Lauren Davis in straight sets with a score of 6-1, 6-1. “I just couldn’t keep my smile from breaking through,” she said after hearing the announcer say “...from Australia So it’s really special moment for me to win a first match as an Australian player. I’m just really happy, and couldn’t believe one day something like that would happen to me. Australia’s a great place. It’s a bit far [away], not going to lie, but it’s a great place, very welcoming place. The people there are just different there, so nice. Everyone is treated the same. I mean, it’s just the harmony there. You feel like nobody’s judging anybody, and you can be yourself.”
