Nick Kyrgios has given his own take on the Novak Djokovic Channel 9 situation with the use of his close friend and impressionist Elliot Loney masquerading as the 24-time Grand Slam champion.
Jones has issued an apology after Djokovic refused to do a post match interview on court as it would be shown on Channel 9, the same platform that Jones said Djokovic was an overrated has-been on while standing in front of Serbian fans as well as saying he is glad they can't hear him.
It is a moment that has since gone viral and every tennis figure from Victoria Azarenka down to Boris Becker have commented on it. Kyrgios roped in Loney who is well known for his impressions of top players mostly Nadal and Djokovic as well as Aussie icon Jim Courier.
They spoofed a news segment seemingly at Kyrgios's apartment in which they called Kyrgios a has-been in similar fashion taking aim at it being live. "Kyrgios is a has-been, Kyrgios is overrated. Kyrgios kick him out. Boy I'm glad you cannot hear me because that would be...
"Novak we are on live television mate," said Kyrgios. "Yeah who would be stupid enough to say that on live television...yeah no-one."
He also wrote on social media platform X taking aim at Jones showing what side he was firmly on. "Why is it always the most un athletic people calling out the best athletes in the world."
Also he posted a video on Facebook calling out Jones. “How the **** does this guy still have a ******* job? It is putrid stuff,” Kyrgios said. Before going on to mock his teeth. “Tony Jones, you absolute flop. ******* Chompers mate!”
