Diego Schwartzman gave it his all in the match against Andrey Rublev and while the Russian moved on in two sets Schwartzman got an A+ for his effort.
A great match was played at the San Diego Open between Andrey Rublev and Diego Schwartzman. The Russian moved on with a 6-1 7-5 victory but the Argentine got an A+ for his effort all day long. He showed his fighting spirit early in the match after slipping on the court. Rublev played a strong forehand and the Argentine slipped finding himself sitting down. He was still able to play a forehand from that position even returning the ball across the net.
Rublev did win the point in the end simply because he had momentum in the point but it was an unbelievable achievement to even get that ball across the court. Rublev was stunned by it as were the crowd. Schwartzman did hurt his hand on that point requiring a minor intervention by the medical but the match was resumed shortly after that with Rublev taking the W in the end.
