In a scene that could have turned ugly, Brazilian tennis star Thiago Seyboth Wild vented his frustrations following a loss on the ATP Challenger tour, almost hitting his opponent in the process.
The former World No.58 was facing Japan's Mochizuki in the opening round of the Oeiras Open 4 ATP Challenger event. After claiming a 6-2 first set in dominant fashion, Seyboth Wild lost control of the match, allowing Mochizuki to storm back and escape with a 2-6 6-1 7-5 victory.
Down 5-6 in the final set and serving to stay alive, the Brazilian was unable to hold his serve, sending an errant shot that handed his Japanese opponent the victory. Mochizuki gave a triumphant roar, before walking up to the net for the customary handshake.
However, after Seyboth Wild had shaken his opponent's hand, the third-ranked Brazilian swung his racket at the net, startling Mochizuki and forcing him to take a step back. Seyboth Wild would again take another swing at the net pole with his racket, destroying the instrument before storming off the court. Below is the full video.
