Despite having a history that will remain etched in tennis history books, retired Swedish star
Bjorn Borg admitted he never relives his glory days with longtime foe
John McEnroe.
The duo spearheaded the tennis movement in the 1970's and 1980's, with both men winning multiple Grand Slam titles and each reaching the World No.1 position. Their head to head record stands at 7-7, appropriate given most of their matches were decided by a whisker.
Borg and McEnroe have left tennis in the past
In an interview with Mundo Deportivo, Borg revealed he and McEnroe have a very close friendship. However, the 68-year old was adamant that the pair never spoke about anything tennis-related during their time together, instead choosing to focus on the more important aspects of life.
"We are good friends, we call each other, we see each other, we spend time with our families," said Borg. "I think it’s very important for both of us. We have respect for each other, we knew perfectly well what we did for tennis many years ago. We took tennis to another level, we helped this sport and we are proud of it. It’s very important for us to be friends, to stay in touch.
"When we see each other, we never talk about tennis. We never talk about tennis. We talk about other things in life that seem more important to us."
