French fashion brand Lacoste has unveiled a tennis court
named after Russia’s
Daniil Medvedev. The 28-year-old is regarded as one of the
most high-profile tennis players currently playing in men’s tennis in the
singles category.
French fashion brand Lacoste has unveiled a tennis court
named in honour of Medvedev. The development was confirmed by the Moscow-born tennis
star in a post on his official account on the social media platform X—previously
known as Twitter—with the caption of: “Welcome to my court! @Lacoste”.
Medvedev has had a difficult campaign according to his own high standards, as he failed to win a single title. He ended up playing 65 matches, winning 46 and losing just 19. His best performance of the season came at the Australian Open, where he lost to reigning world number
one Italy’s Jannik Sinner in the final in a five-set thriller with a score of
3-6, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-3.
Other than that, Medvedev played in the final of the Indian
Wells as well, where he lost to world number three Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz in
straight sets with a score of 7-5, 6-1. Medvedev also managed to play in the
semifinal at Wimbledo,n where he lost to the young Spaniard once again, this time
with the score of 6-7, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4. Medvedev’s final appearance of the season
came at the ATP Finals, where he was knocked out from the first round after
losing two out of three matches. His only win came in the match against
Australia’s Alex de Minaur in straight sets with a score of 6-2, 6-4.
