The World Tennis League has one more match to go and it is tightly in the favour of Hawks thus far with Mirra Andreeva in particular leading from the front and starring. The 17-year-old Russian prodigy who was a star of the last run-in of the tournament eased past Elena Rybakina in singles.

She started the day in her doubles tandem with Aryna Sabalenka which has born fruit in being one that has entertained both on the court and also in interviews with the rising star saying she taught her nothing aside from dance moves jokingly.

They edged through in a narrow tie-break 7-5 against Caroline Garcia and Elena Rybakina. Before singles took hold and saw the latter seal a superb 6-2 win to put them into a 13-8 lead. But Andrey Rublev and Denis Shapovalov have sent it into a tight conclusion.

They teamed up to ease past Sumit Nagal and Jordan Thompson 6-2 with the former now making it 15-14 in favour of Hawks so only one point left in it prior to the final match which sees Rublev and Nagal face off. The latter will hope if defeated to make a good fist of it to keep the Hawks in the lead towards the title.

In a tournament where points mean prizes over wins, Hawks could just about get over the line ironically with the one game extra they won in women's doubles to start with. But Andreeva at least has led from the front and done her job, she also won the title last year with Eagles.

If Rublev or Andreeva do seal the win, it is technically back-to-back albeit both were on a different team last year and are this time but not the winning team. The World Tennis League is just about to conclude in Abu Dhabi.
