Serena Williams as part of Tennis.com's Decade in Review has been announced as their Women's Player of the Decade.
Williams bounced back from adversity as well as the birth of her first child Alexis to play towards the top of her game again.
Tennis.com said that for them it reinforced she was human that she could get through this and show resilience in the face of adversity especially when pregnant during her run at the Australian Open.
She followed that up by having an emergency caesarian section to give birth to her child and then after experiencing shortness of breath, Serena made sure that doctors ran tests and she thought she had a pulmonary embolism which was later revealed as being true.
As a result, she returned to the game and went in pursuit of the 24th Grand Slam title and despite having multiple controversial moments, she has shown just how good she is in the last decade.
