Australian tennis star Ajla Tomljanovic is set to return to professional tennis after a lengthy injury concern.
The 30-year-old has struggled with a knee injury in the recent past and it is because of this reason she has not played any match since November last year.
However, Tomljanovic’s fans can now finally get excited to hear the news that their favourite player is set to return to action at the US Open.
The Zagreb-born has recently completed a practice session ahead of the fourth and final Grand Slam of the year which is set to begin in less than seven days’ time.
Tomljanovic will be hoping to improve her performance after such a lengthy injury layoff. Despite turning pro in 2009, she has not won any senior WTA title in her career.
Even in the Grand Slams, Tomljanovic has never played beyond the quarterfinal stage. She played in the last-eight of Wimbledon twice — in 2021 and 2022 and on both occasions, she ended up as the second-best after losing to fellow Australian Ashleigh Barty and Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan.
She also played in the quarterfinal of the US Open last year where she lost to Tunisia’s Ons Jabeur with a score of 6-4, 7-6.

So good to have Ajla Tomljanovic back in NY one year after her win over Serena en route to the QFs. She says her knee feels good, and she’s ready to go for what will be her first match of 2023. (Yes, that’s Netflix star Ratko chilling in the umpire chair - ha!) #USOpen
