Mirra Andreeva and Aryna Sabalenka shared a fun moment at the World Tennis League when they couldn’t stop laughing during a doubles match. The world No. 1 and the Russian teenager faced Caroline Garcia and Elena Rybakina, coming back from a 0-5 deficit before sealing the win.

It didn’t matter much, even after the second match, where Andreeva triumphed over the 2022 Wimbledon champion Rybakina. Later, Andrey Rublev and Denis Shapovalov defeated the duo of Sumit Nagal and Jordan Thompson, while in the decisive match, Rublev beat Nagal to seal the Team Falcons' victory 20-16 in the games-won tiebreak.

Sabalenka and Andreeva steal the show

Nonetheless, the partnership of Andreeva and Sabalenka in doubles was impressive. In four doubles matches, they only knew victories. Twice against Garcia/Rybakina, along with two wins in the Round Robin against Simona Halep with Jasmine Paolini and Iga Swiatek with Paula Badosa.

In recent days, the strong bond between Sabalenka and Andreeva has been evident, as they shared a fun moment in the final on Sunday. At one point, the camera caught Sabalenka and Andreeva bursting into laughter on the court, although the reason behind it couldn’t be captured. In the on-court interview, they were asked what made them laugh, but they refused to provide details. “No, I’m not gonna tell you what’s so funny. At some point, we just couldn’t hold it inside.”

Both players will reunite in a week at the Brisbane International, where they will begin their season. Sabalenka will be the first seed in a highly competitive draw with 8 players in the top-15, which prevented Andreeva (No. 16) from securing one of the seeded positions.
