Former Canadian tennis star Eugenie Bouchard has announced that she has gotten a new job. The 30-year-old has not been playing regularly in recent years, and it was believed that she has decided to move on from professional tennis.
Bouchard, after suffering a defeat in the qualifying round for the US Open last year, announced that she has decided to play Pickleball which raised eyebrows about her future as a tennis player as well.
Interestingly, the Montreal-born tennis star, in a post on her official account on a social media platform X — previously known as Twitter — revealed that she has joined the Tennis Channel as a pundit and that fans can see her the whole week.
“Guys, I’m on @TenicChannel this whole week!” she wrote. “Catch me at 12pm PT/3pm ET on the Tennis Channel live every day. And calling matches from 9am PT/12 pm ET,” she wrote.
The former world number five was instrumental in the early days of her career. She played in the 2014 Wimbledon final but lost to Petra Kvitova, who came out on top with a score of 6-3, 6-0.
Not only that as she also played in the semifinal of two Grand Slams. She played in the semifinal of the Australian Open in 2014 where she came second-best against China’s Li Na with a score of 6-2, 6-4. Later same year, in the French Open, Bouchard lost in the last-four clash to the former world number one Russia’s Maria Sharapova with a score of 4-6, 7-5, 6-2.
However, things have changed drastically for her since the start of 2015. After that, the Wimbledon runner-up only managed to book a place in the quarterfinal or beyond of a Grand Slam once in 26 attempts. She failed to qualify for the main draw of the Grand Slam in her last five attempts.
