Chris Evert shares photos from Indian Wells with Romanian gymnastics legend

WTA great Chris Evert has led a very active life following her retirement, and the former American tennis star took to social media to share some pictures that included a pair of gymnastics legends from her era.

The former World No.1 dominated tennis for close to 20 years during the 1970's and 1980's, winning seven French Open singles titles and six US Open championships. The Florida native finished her career with 18 Grand Slam singles titles, and was instrumental in advocating for equal rights in women's tennis.

Evert shares pictures alongside iconic Olympians

The 70-year old took to social media to share some photos of her appearance at this year's Indian Wells event. However, Evert was not alone in one of her pictures, as she was in the company of gymnastics icons Bart Conner and Nadia Comaneci. Both were contemporary stars of the 1970's and 1980,s with Conner helping Comaneci to defect from Romania to Montreal, before getting married five years later.

"These two...#icons...and look, @simonahalep in the background!" read the caption. A portrait featuring retired Romanian tennis star Simona Halep was used as the backdrop for the photo.

Regarding Conner and Comaneci, the duo met at the Montreal Olympic Games in 1976, with Comaneci defecting to Montreal in 1989. Conner would later help the Russian-born gymnast settle in the United States, before offering her a job at his gymnastics school in 1991. The couple would eventually get married in 1996.
