The draw has been confirmed ahead of the 2024
Jiangxi Open, set to take place from October 26 to November 3 in Jiujiang, China, the last tournament of the season hosted by the Asian country.
2023 runner-up
Marie Bouzkova will be the top seed in the tournament and the only top-50 player in the draw. Other seeded players include
Rebecca Sramkova,
Moyuka Uchijima,
Jessica Bouzas Maneiro,
Lucia Bronzetti, among others.
The tournament will not feature 2023 champion Katerina Siniakova, who defeated Bouzkova last year 1-6, 7-6(5), 7-6(4) to claim the title. The most recent withdrawal was third seed
Olga Danilovic, who claimed the title in Guangzhou on Sunday and opted not to travel to Jiujiang after an intense week.
Nevertheless, there are several players to watch in the draw. Rising star
Alexandra Eala (19 years old, No. 147),
Linda Fruhvirtova (19 years old, No. 214), and German
Ella Seidel (19 years old, No. 117) will compete, alongside seasoned players like
Laura Siegemund (No. 100),
Petra Martic (No. 122), and former French Open semifinalist
Martina Trevisan (No. 133).
The tournament will award 250 ranking points and a prize of $35,250 for the champion. This end-of-year event presents a valuable opportunity for players to climb the rankings, as several fight to break into the top-100 before the season concludes, which would also provide them with a year-end financial bonus from the WTA.
