The draw has been completed ahead of the WTA edition of the Indian Wells Open which will take place between March 5-16 2025 in Tennis Paradise as the Sunshine Double begins.
Iga Swiatek is defending champion but has a pretty rough draw on her return to the Tennis Garden. She defeated Maria Sakkari last season in the final and will begin against either Bernarda Pera or Caroline Garcia but could yet face Karolina Muchova and Ons Jabeur as the tournament goes on.
Jessica Pegula could face an all American second round fresh off winning Austin. She faces either Peyton Stearns or Magda Linette. Elena Rybakina previously sealed the title in 2023 and has markably had a differing time since then. She has dealt with a fair bit of adversity off the court with the situation surrounding her coach Stefano Vukov as of late.
But she has been in good form despite that. She faces the winner of Marie Bouzkova or Suzan Lamens aiming to rekindle title winning form. Top seed is Aryna Sabalenka and she will face the winner of Anna Blinkova or McCartney Kessler. The former is a known spoiler while the latter reached the final of Austin. She was swept aside by Pegula but with Sabalenka not at her best right now, it could be an early problem.
All eyes will also be on the Coco Gauff side of things as she could face Emma Raducanu in the second round albeit the Brit has to get past Uchijima first to book that tie. Australian Open champion Madison Keys also plays for the first time since that title win and takes on Jessica Bouzas Maneiro or Anastasia Potapova.
While sixth seed Jasmine Paolini dropped after not defending Dubai and will face Iva Jovic or Julia Grabher in her second round aiming to rekindle some form. Zheng Qinwen could face Victoria Azarenka in the second round with the Belarusian facing a qualifier.
