Several tennis players have made the transition to coaching after they hanging up their rackets, although rising tennis star Emma Raducanu may have her eye on a particular WTA player even before her colleague is done with the sport.
The 2021 US Open champion was sidelined during an appearance at last year's Korea Open in September, before calling an end to her 2024 season. The British star made her comeback this year at the Australian Open and suffered a handful of first round losses before making it to the second round of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, where she would lose to Karolina Muchova.
In an interview during her stay in Dubai, the former World No.10 was asked to choose a current WTA player whom she'd like to have as a coach, either in the present or sometime in the future.
"I would want Ons Jabeur to coach me because I think she has an amazing energy," replied Raducanu. "I think she’s a really caring person, really generous person. Funny but has a great eye for the game and is obviously pretty tactical as well with the way she plays and has a lot at her disposal. So maybe one day, Ons."
Raducanu has developed a reputation of not being able to keep a coach, as she has cycled through several in her short stint on tour. Jabeur, known as one of the nicest players on the WTA circuit, achieved a career-high ranking of World No.2 in 2022, the same year she reached both the Wimbledon and US Open finals.
