Mats Wilander and Laura Robson predicted Emma Raducanu as the biggest comeback of 2025. Eurosport experts debated predictions for the upcoming season, suggesting Raducanu will take a significant step forward next year.

The 2021 US Open champion has struggled to shine on the WTA Tour since her unexpected triumph at Flushing Meadows. After a couple of seasons marked by inconsistent results and several injuries, Raducanu underwent surgery in April 2023, effectively ending her season early.

Raducanu set for a career revival

Raducanu's return in 2024 sparked anticipation about the level the Brit could bring after her long absence. Playing a reduced calendar of select tournaments, she climbed from outside the top 300 to World No. 56, achieving encouraging results for the future, including standout performances at the Billie Jean King Cup.

The Brit recently turned 22, remaining a young player with many years of her career ahead. This year, she secured a few wins against top-10 players, including Jessica Pegula (then No. 2) at the Eastbourne International. Raducanu also reached the fourth round at Wimbledon, marking just the second time in her career she advanced to the second week of a Grand Slam.

Looking ahead to the 2025 season, Eurosport experts chose their "Comeback Player of the Year," with Mats Wilander and Laura Robson both picking the former World No. 10.

“Emma Raducanu,” Wilander said. “I’m hoping and praying that she can be the comeback player of the year.” Robson agreed with the 7-time Grand Slam champion, adding, “Why not Emma [Raducanu] for 2025, comeback player of the year.”

Meanwhile, Alex Corretja and Tim Henman selected Belinda Bencic. The former World No. 4 recently returned to the court after a year-long maternity break and, at 27, aims to re-establish herself at the top of the game.

Raducanu will start her 2025 season at the WTA 250 ASB Classic, where she is the 6th seed, competing against players such as Madison Keys, Amanda Anisimova, and Naomi Osaka.
