Ex-Rafael Nadal coach Marc Lopez joins forces with Jasmine Paolini after 10-year partnership ends

Marc Lopez is the new coach of Jasmine Paolini it has been confirmed by Sofya Tartakova, the insider who brought the news surrounding Marat Safin joining Andrey Rublev.

As well as Elena Rybakina and Stefano Vukov news. Paolini recently left her coach of 10 years Renzo Furlan who announced last week they were going their separate ways.

"Renzo has been such an important part of my growth, both as a player and as a person," Paolini wrote on Instagram.. "Everything I’ve learned from him will stay with me and continue to guide me in this new chapter, he’ll always be an important person in my life."

This is despite Furlan being the 2024 WTA Coach of the Year but she has plumped for the former coach of Rafael Nadal who coached the great Spaniard for the latter half of his career.

Dinara Safina told Bolshe! that they will work with the Italian until the end of the clay season so from Stuttgart until the end of Roland Garros presumably with a view to continuing afterwards.

“I spoke with Marc in Stuttgart. Their cooperation is designed until the end of Roland Garros”

Lopez is a Roland Garros doubles champion and former doubles No.3 but he was also a friend of the great Spaniard who he played doubles with also on occasion.

They took home gold at the 2016 Rio Olympics and the pair had won five career doubles titles on tour. Lopez worked alongside Carlos Moya and Francis Roig during his time with the time until Nadal retired.

It will be hoped that he can bring some new impetus and ideas ahead of a pivotal time for Paolini who will look to defend a final at Roland Garros in short order and so will look to go to the next level that perhaps Furlan couldn't give her.
