Iga Swiatek won the junior
Wimbledon in 2018 on the same courts where she got her first singles Wimbledon victory in the pros.
Iga Swiatek won her first singles match at Wimbledon against Su-Wei Hsieh today with 6-4 6-4 and after the match, the Polish player was extremely happy. It was not an easy match for Swiatek who does not have a lot of experience on grass but today she was good.
Wimbledon is not her goal at the moment as he is realistic about her abilities on grass which is why she entered this match extremely prepared. After the match she spoke about her playing going in:
"Su-Wei has great touch, and my main goal was to not let her use that."
Swiatek succeeded in that limited her opponent while also playing her signature aggressive style. Swiatek committed too many errors for her liking but she was overjoyed with the victory. Asked about being on Court No. 1 again she said briefly:
"Great memories."
She was alluding to 2018 when she won the Wimbledon junior title by beating Leonie Kung in the final.
