Naomi Osaka is the defending champion at
US Open and while the Japanese player has not shown great tennis leading up to it she is happy with her game.
Naomi Osaka did not enjoy a fruitful summer of tennis as the Japanese player failed to do much at the Tokyo Olympics. She then continued her struggles in Cincinnati admitting she needs to work on some things ahead of the US Open. Speaking at the media day she said:
"I feel pretty happy with how I’m playing.
I thought I played two really tough matches in Cincinnati. Of course, I’m not, like, declaring that I’ll do amazing here. For me, I’m the one-match-at-a-time like person.”
It's a good approach that has worked for Osaka in the past and many will be keen to see how the Japanese player does. Osaka showed a more mature approach ever since the French Open fiasco and asked about that she said:
“I feel like there’s a lot of things that I did wrong at that moment, but I’m also the type of person that’s very in the moment. There’s a lot of things that I learned to do better. Of course, I don’t feel the same situation will happen again.”
The 23-year-old will open her US Open campaign with a match against Marie Bouzkova.
