"I had a lot of tough moments in my career" - Haddad Maia after biggest win of her career

Beatriz Haddad Maia endured quite a lot in her career but the Brazilian is happy to experience beating a number one player in the world.

Haddad Maia did really well this year slowly building up her form from the start of the year till now. Her big break came during the grass season where she went almost unbeaten winning a couple of trophies as well. Now, she beat the number one player in the world ona surface where she did not lose in months:

"I had a lot of tough moments in my career. I have already had four surgeries and I'm only 26 years old. So when I have special moments I try to enjoy. Because sometimes we think, Oh, no, I'm not that happy. I'm not that, I don't think about winning. But the truth is that I work for like 15 years to live this moment, to live this dream that I worked a lot."

For Haddad Maia, all of this is just a product of the hard work she invested in her game and tennis:

"Tennis is like that. It doesn't matter which court you play in, you have to push yourself to improve your game. I think that was the key for both victories."
