Iga Swiatek will play at her first WTA Finals this week after the Pole saw her first appearance last year denied by COVID-19.
It's been a mad two years for Iga Swiatek who soared to become one of the best tennis players in the world. The young Pole will get the chance to test herself against the best this week in Guadalajara taking part in the WTA Finals. She is highly motivated for the event and speaking on motivation in general she said:
"When I have a hard time finding the motivation to practice I always remember that tennis is entertainment. I love playing in stadiums, especially when I win, and I love the support I get from people.”
Swiatek is hoping to emulate the success of Agnieszka Radwanska who won the event in 2015 by defeating Petra Kvitova in the final. She will certainly have a chance as the majority of the field never played at the WTA Finals. Swiatek is one of six debutants at the WTA Finals. Those women are Aryna Sabalenka, Barbora Krejcikova, Maria Sakkari, Swiatek, Paula Badosa and Anett Kontaveit.
Only world number four Karolina Pliskova and number five Garbine Muguruza have competed at the event previously.
