Former World No.1 Serena Williams revealed the success behind her recent weight loss, as the WTA legend has adapted to life after retiring in 2022.
The 23-time Grand Slam champion called it a career at the 2022 US Open, and subsequently gave birth to her second child the following year. Shifting her focus from tennis to motherhood and running her various businesses, the American took on another challenge, losing post-partum weight.

Williams shares progress with fans on social media

The 43-year old posted a video where she displayed one of her dresses, claiming she was unable to fit in the outfit in the past. However, her recent weight loss allowed her to wear it once again.
"So I used to not be able to fit this dress at all, like I literally couldn’t even close it,” said Williams. “It would come like here and I physically couldn’t close it. So now, not only can I close it, it almost comes too far over. So I’m really excited."
Williams detailed how much work she had put into dropping the weight, stating she had taken up running.
"I’ve been training a lot. I’ve been running," revealed the former tennis pro. "I’m training for a 5k, then I’m going to do a 10k and then I want to do a half-marathon. So it’s really paying off and I really like this dress just for a cozy day at home, right? So fun. So keep going, if you’re working out, you can do it too. If I can do it, you can do it, you’re way better than me."

“I have been on an intense weight, loss journey, and working out like crazy," wrote the caption on her video. "I wakeup at five to get to the gym and it’s finally starting to pay off. Life is a journey so is weight loss, not a destination. If you’re on the same journey, I’m wishing you well.”
