Poland’s tennis star
Iga Swiatek has achieved yet another
milestone after securing a thumping win in the first round of the
US Open 2023.
The fourth and final Grand Slam of the year began on Monday
where players from all over the world are participating to fight for the ultimate
glory.
Swiatek began her campaign in style as she thrashed Sweden’s
Rebecca Peterson in straight sets with a score of 6-0, 6-1.
While doing so, the world number one because of the first women’s
player to be born in the 2000s to earn more than $20 million.
Swiatek is a very successful player on the tennis court,
having already won four Grand Slam titles in her career despite ageing just 22,
which includes three French Open titles in just four years.
Swiatek will be pleased with her performance as she is
defending her crown at the mega-event after winning the title last year
following her win over Tunisia’s Ons Jabeur with a score of 6-2, 7-6.
The Warsaw-born will face Australia’s Daria Saville in the round
of 64 of the competition on Wednesday.
