Iga Swiatek was presented with the 2024 French Open trophy by both Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert. Initially, only Navratilova was supposed to hand over the trophy, but she suggested that Evert should also be present for the ceremony.
Following a remarkable performance in the final, Swiatek defeated Jasmine Paolini 6-2, 6-1, securing her fourth Roland Garros title and her fifth Grand Slam title overall. The Polish star was initially trailing 2-1 in the first set but then embarked on a 10-game winning streak, nearly completing a bagel, before Paolini managed to win one last game before Swiatek clinched the title.

Evert and Navratilova present the trophy

During the award ceremony, it was anticipated that Navratilova would present the trophy to the tournament champion. However, the 18-time Grand Slam champion suggested that Evert join her in the ceremony, commemorating 50 years since her dear friend’s first title. Evert is the most successful female player in French Open history, with seven titles to her name.
Journalist John Wertheim revealed Navratilova’s gesture, highlighting the camaraderie between the two legends and adding a touching note to the ceremony: “She will hate me for writing this but @Martina was supposed to present the winner's trophy and felt it only appropriate that -on the 50th anniversary of her first title here - @ChrissieEvert join her. What a lovely touch.. These two are simply the best... #rolandgarros
Later on social media, Chrissie Evert confirmed that she was present at the ceremony at Navratilova's initiative.: “So, I presented the Roland Garros winner's trophy last year, @Martina was asked to present this year.Since it was the 50th Anniversary of my first win, she asked me if I would join her in presenting...Generous and thoughtful, that's my friend Martina!”
