Jessica Pegula was well beaten on Saturday in the final of the 2025 Miami Open being defeated by Aryna Sabalenka who failed to drop a single set en route to the title winning 7-5, 6-2.

Having lost to Sabalenka at the US Open, Cincinnati and now Miami, the World No.1 has become an achilles heel for the American but she still found humour in it all.

She spoke afterwards lamenting another loss to Sabalenka whilst also sending heavy praise to her team as well as the crowd. As well as mentioning the Buffalo Bills, her family team ran by her parents and being amazed at how it transforms from Dolphins v Bills to now a tennis stadium.

Next up currently for Pegula is the Charleston Open next week as she has to adapt now to clay after weeks of hard court action as she heads there as top seed.

"First obviously congrats Aryna to you and to your team. Three finals I really don't wanna like you right now. But you're the best player in the world for a reason and you keep pushing everybody and challenging everybody to get better. Just congrats, two amazing weeks here and a great tournament at Indian Wells too," said Pegula on court as shown on Tennis Channel.

"Thank you to my team over in the box, my family, my coach, my hitting partner and my physio. My husband, my brother and sister. I have a lot of friends and family here in South Florida so it's been awesome to be able to play here and for everyone to come and watch me play."

"I really appreciate you guys getting me going the last couple of weeks. It's been a long couple of weeks but we had an amazing tournament so hopefully we can keep that going."
