The Madrid Open was plunged into a state of chaos on Monday afternoon with a power outage in Spain, Portugal and other parts of Europe lost power.
The exact moment was ironically recorded as Coco Gauff eased through Belinda Bencic 6-4, 6-2 and was speaking on court when suddenly the mic cut off and the power went.
Further videos show the Madrid Open left completely in darkness using torches to light the way. As expected play has been suspended as a result with issues throughout France also. Millions have been left without electricity.
In Portugal, the outage was confirmed as being nationwide while similar reports are coming out Spain. Madrid's airport was left without power and other airports have come to a standstill.
The same can be said for the Madrid Open with Jacob Fearnley's match with Grigor Dimitrov interrupted. Same can be said for Damir Dzumhur and Matteo Arnaldi. Albeit Mirra Andreeva and Coco Gauff were able to win before the power cut off.
It is unsure when play will return in Madrid but it could disrupt the whole day.
