Danielle Collins follows Novak Djokovic in slamming journalist Tony Jones after controversial remarks during the Australian Open. Nole recently refused to give an on-court interview due to Jones’ inflammatory comments about Serbian fans and Djokovic himself.

The Australian journalist from Channel 9 came under fire for making remarks that Djokovic deemed offensive towards Serbian fans. With Serbian supporters in the background, Jones said on camera: “Novak is overrated, Novak a has-been,” mocking the chants of Djokovic’s fans.

This didn’t sit well with Djokovic, who decided to boycott Channel 9 interviews, as no apology was issued and he considered the comments disrespectful.

However, Jones has found himself embroiled in another controversy. Following the incident with Djokovic, Danielle Collins resurfaced with a social media post sharing a video of Jones heavily criticising her behaviour during her match against Destanee Aiava.

Collins had blown mocking kisses to the crowd after defeating the Australian, earning their boos, which continued during her third-round match against Madison Keys. Additionally, during her second-round on-court interview, Collins stated that she didn’t care about the boos and mentioned how she would spend the money earned, courtesy of the same fans who booed her.

Jones harshly criticised Collins on Channel 9, saying: “My view is, yeah, she’s a brat. I mean, these tennis players come over here, Alycia Molik was here a little earlier in the week, telling us their airfares are paid for, they’re chauffeured around the place, they’re given gifts. They basically do nothing but pick up a racquet and hit the tennis ball. And we admire that.”

“But when we get people like Danielle Collins, who lives this lifestyle and then rubs our noses in it—those people who actually paid good money, a lot of money, to go there and watch her—and the Australian girl, of course, Destanee Aiava—and then she (Collins) turns around and basically says, ‘I’m only here for the money, and I can go on a nice five-star holiday at your expense.’ I thought that overstepped the mark.”

The video, shared on social media, was reposted by Collins on her Instagram Stories with a sharp response to the journalist. “Tony, you know the vibe. I hear you make some fat paychecks too. Sounds like you need a good vacay, you poor thing #brat #bratsummer.”
