World No. 1 Jannik Sinner quickly took the lead in the ATP Race to the Finals after clinching the Australian Open title. The 23-year-old is followed by finalist Alexander Zverev and semifinalists Novak Djokovic and Ben Shelton.
Meanwhile, Carlos Alcaraz finds himself in 10th place after his quarterfinal loss to Djokovic, just one spot ahead of Taylor Fritz, who was eliminated in the third round. Elsewhere, Learner Tien and Joao Fonseca break into the top 20, signaling their readiness to move into the elite positions in the rankings.
After the first four weeks of competition and six tournaments held in Australia, the initial standings in the ATP Race are starting to take shape. Unlike the official ATP Rankings, which consider the past 52 weeks, the ATP Race only accounts for points earned in 2025. By the end of the season, the top eight players will qualify for the ATP Finals.
It couldn’t be anyone other than the almost unstoppable Jannik Sinner who dominates the Race from the outset. A flawless campaign in Australia saw him claim his third Grand Slam title, earning 2,000 points and solidifying his leadership. Similarly, Zverev, despite his loss in the final, holds the second position with a significant margin over his pursuers.
Behind Sinner and Zverev are the tournament’s semifinalists, Novak Djokovic (850 points) and Ben Shelton (800). The 24-time Grand Slam champion edged out the American thanks to his performance at the year’s first event in Brisbane, where he reached the quarterfinals.
The quarterfinalists secure notable positions: Tommy Paul (5th), Alex de Minaur (7th), Lorenzo Sonego (8th), and Carlos Alcaraz (10th). Joining the top 10 are 28-year-old Gael Monfils, champion in the ASB Classic, who later reached the fourth round at the Australian Open before retiring against Shelton, and Jiri Lehecka (9th), who achieved similar results by winning the Brisbane International and reaching the fourth round in Melbourne.
Young talents such as Alex Michelsen (13th), Learner Tien (15th), Joao Fonseca (16th), and Nishesh Basavareddy (21st) have positioned themselves among the rising stars. This could signal a season full of surprises, with a new generation of players rapidly achieving victories against the world’s best.
