Andy Murray prevailed in straight sets against Corentin Moutet to open his US Open campaign, but the main talking point was the first use of VAR technology in Grand Slam tennis.

A contentious point in football (soccer), it crept into tennis for the first time at the US Open and like in the main sport, it is used in it caused controversy.

Used for a double bounce towards the conclusion of the Murray match, the umpire had a second look or not in this case.

Despite being broadcast on the big screen to the spectators inside the Grandstand, the umpire's tablet could not access the footage. Albeit the original call stood anyway as the umpire said it wasn't working so couldn't overturn after three minutes of issues.

But it seems that the technology may have some teething problems which will be aired out as a farce on Day Two at the US Open. Will it rear its head again during the tournament?
