Lorenzo Musetti's rise continues as he moves past the immovable object it seemed that was Alex de Minaur into a first Masters 1000 final at the 2025 Monte-Carlo Masters. The Italian rallied past the Australian in a comeback win.

In wet conditions, Musetti had to respond after losing the opening set. He recovered from failing to serve out 5-3 in the decider and eventually won through 1-6, 6-4, 7-6(4). He defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas in the Quarter-Finals to set the milestone in regards to the semi-final.

Now he is into a first final and is one win away from his third title and his biggest of his career. He won the bronze medal on clay last season at the Paris Olympic Games and has often excelled on the surface albeit mostly running into Novak Djokovic with crushing comebacks the other way being his achilles heel.

A player with the guile and the court craft to trouble the best, he sometimes lacks the ability to close it out but he finally did in this case. He now faces Carlos Alcaraz, his contemporary who he came up in the ranks alongside and was touted alongside when both were playing Golden Swing tournaments on clay.

But it was Alcaraz who ascended to the top and for Musetti it has taken longer but this week he has shown he is a contender. He vanquished De Minaur who battered Daniil Medvedev and Grigor Dimitrov earlier in the week but misfired against Musetti running out of steam down the stretch.

De Minaur was sent chasing all over the court by Musetti who found the corners with effortlessness. His winners were sumptuous and he managed to pin De Minaur down to stop him gaining the dominance he showed in his previous ties.

What a game is in prospect on Sunday between Alcaraz and Musetti, who comes out on top?
