After retiring in over two years ago, Swiss tennis icon Roger Federer has mostly kept away from the tennis court. However, the former World No.1 was spotted during a recent hitting session on the grass courts in Mallorca.

The 20-time Grand Slam champion retired at the Laver Cup in 2022, ending an illustrious career that spanned over two decades. Ever since hanging up his racket, Federer has stayed away from competitive tennis, partaking in the occasional exhibition match as he has turned his focus to his family and philanthropic ventures.

Federer seen hitting in hometown of fiercest rival

Fans of the Swiss Maestro were delighted to see a viral photo of Federer casually hitting some balls on grass courts in Mallorca, the hometown of longtime foe and friend Rafael Nadal. The duo have battled each other on several occasions, producing some epic matches and moments that will forever be etched in tennis history.

In the photo posted online, Federer was captured donning the signature white outfit reserved for the hallowed grounds of Wimbledon. In addition to wielding his trademark Wilson racket, the 43-year old was seen wearing sunglasses due to the bright sun.

With the Wimbledon Championships approaching in a few months, fans are left pondering whether the eight-time champion will make a guest appearance during the two-week event.
