(VIDEO) Surprise marriage proposal steals the show during Musetti-De Minaur at Madrid Open

Alex de Minaur knows what it is like to get engaged and he was in view of a proposal during his match with Lorenzo Musetti which stole the show on Wednesday at the 2025 Madrid Open.

The couple proposed to each other during the fourth round tie between Musetti and De Minaur won by the Italian. Before the match began, a couple decided to make it extra special. They were seen on camera putting a ring on his partner's finger. The crowd responded with huge cheers and applause.

When the camera panned to the duo, Musetti in particular was beaming. De Minaur himself got engaged during the off season to his partner and fellow tennis pro, Katie Boulter who hilariously called him a red flag earlier in the week for not replying to her during the blackout.

On the court, Musetti kept smiling as he took charge. They played out a three set thriller in Monte-Carlo but Musetti who will make his top 10 debut next week reached his maiden Quarter-Final in Madrid. He won 6-4, 6-2 and will now face Gabriel Diallo in the Quarter-Final.

So while he was smiling before the match, he had extra reason to smile as he reached another latter stage. He reached the final in Monte-Carlo but was defeated by Carlos Alcaraz who won't be a concern this week as he's injured.
