After Jenson Brooksby publicly revealed his autism diagnosis, German tennis legend Boris Becker sent a heartfelt message to the American.

Brooksby recently revealed he had been living with autism his entire life, and stated he was in fact nonverbal till the age of four.

"It's time for me to share something that I have kept quiet for my entire life," said Brooksby. "I was diagnosed on the severe end of the spectrum as a very young child. I was nonverbal until the age of four. It took 40 hours a week of intensive ABA therapy."

Becker hopes Brooksby can inspire others living with the condition

After making his diagnosis known, Brooksby thanked his parents for supporting him during his career. The American also opened up on how much he was looking forward to returning to the ATP Tour, after being suspended for 18 months due to missing three drug tests.

"My mother never gave up and did everything to help me," he added. "I wouldn't be where I am today without her. I am lucky to have parents who refused to give up. I decided it was time to tell my story. I hope this inspires families to never give up.
"The last 23 months have very been tough on me. Surround yourself with good people and never give up. I am grateful to be returning to pro tennis in Australia. See you soon!”

Becker was quick to lend his support to Brooksby, taking to social media to praise him for his willingness to speak out on the issue.

"Love your honesty and good luck in Australia! We all carry extra baggage nobody knows about …. You will inspire millions of young athletes around the world that giving up is NOT an option! Well done Jenson," wrote Becker on Twitter.
