Elina Svitolina, who welcomed her daughter Skai with husband Gael Monfils last year, has shared an aborable photo of her child watching Monfils practice.
The Ukrainian tennis player Svitolina married French tennis player Monfils in July 2021 and the couple announced that they were expecting their first child in May 2022 before welcoming Skai in October of that year.
Svitolina returned to the sport in April and had a successful comeback, most notably defeating Victoria Azarenka and Iga Swiatek to reach the semi-finals of Wimbledon. However, she and her husband have often spoken of the emotional toll of parenthood on the ATP and WTA Tours.

At the DC Open in August, Svitolina revealed that the couple had chosen to leave Skai at home as they thought the constant traveling required on the ATP and WTA Tours would be too much for the young child.
"She's at home. We want her to stay home for the health reasons. Health is No. 1 priority for us. It's really challenging," she said, "We know how tiring it can be to travel that much. Tennis requires a lot of traveling, flying, and all this stress. You know, you're not sleeping in your bed, you are constantly, you know, doing something and different places. So we don't want to stress her right now at the beginning."
The 28-year-old then decided to take a break from the sport after the US Open, saying that her body was not in the best condition and she needed some time to recover.
"I intend to take some time for recovery, and I haven’t seen my daughter in a while, so I’m looking forward to returning home," she said at the time.
Now, Svitolina has shared a photo of her family spending some time together as she and her daughter watched Monfils practice. In a post on her Instagram story, Skai can be seen looking at the court while wearing a tracksuit with her name on the back. Svitolina captioned the photo "First practice", accompanied by a smiling-face emoji.
