The draw has been confirmed for 2025 Rouen Open known as Open Capfinances Rouen Métropole for sponsorship reasons and takes place between April 14-20, 2025 in France.
Originally a WTA 125 tournament that took place in October, the Rouen Open transitioned to a spring WTA 250 tournament in 2024. In its inaugural edition last year, Sloane Stephens captured the title.
Stephens does not return this year but it is a stellar cast despite another leading withdrawal. Despite not formally being announced, Emma Raducanu will not play this next week. Albeit the writing was on the wall when she withdrew from Billie Jean King Cup citing a need for a break and a training block.
The latter alluding to the fact she wouldn't play Rouen as she initially aimed to dip down the tour for the first time since Singapore earlier this season. Seemingly designed to give her reps ahead of the clay court season, she had a good Sunshine Double so is taking more time out ahead of Rome, Madrid and Roland Garros.
Elina Svitolina though fresh off Billie Jean King Cup duty will lead the field. She faces Jil Teichmann and could face compatriot Anhelina Kalinina in the Last 16.
Maria Sakkari could await in the Quarter-Finals. The Greek has fallen down as low as the 80's in the Rankings so has rough draws as a standard. She faces Jessica Bouzas Maneiro to start off with then it it could be Varvara Gracheva or Sonay Kartal.
Caroline Garcia plays on home soil against Anna Blinkova and could face Olga Danilovic, third seed in the Last 16. Linda Noskova is second seed.
She is in an interesting section. Bernarda Pera awaits who performed superbly as US qualified for the Billie Jean King Cup Finals. Then it could be Bianca Andreescu, a welcome return to the tour after taking all of the season off so far and struggling with a back issue last year. She faces Suzan Lamens on her return to the tour.
